Review: Greta and The Goblin King by Chloe Jacobs

Greta and the Goblin King (Mylena Chronicles, #1)Greta and the Goblin King by Chloe Jacobs
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So have you watched the movie Labyrinth...

(If you haven't...go out and watch it, its the only time that anyone would think that David Bowie is sexy)

Greta and Goblin King is nothing like the movie, but I mean who thinks that a goblin king can be sexy...its a weird concept, but geeze I absolutely loved the character of Isaac, he is hot. Greta is pretty bad ass herself, and she is fighting her feelings for this hot guy. I can hear Isaac saying Jareth's line at the end of the movie "I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave." Its one of those lines that makes your heart skip a beat.

So should you read the book, I liked the story, even though I really thought we started in the middle of Greta's story for some reason. She is a human hiding her humanity in the middle of a world of supernatural creatures that hate humans. There is this eclipse that turns these creatures even crazier, and she has to survive it, but not alone. She has found a group of human boys, of which I couldn't help love little Jacob, he is so sweet. I really think this book needs a prequel, I would love to learn more about Greta.

There is enough going on to keep a reader interested, and I am not telling you the whole story, it may get confusing at a couple of points in the book. And even though I kinda got the end, I just felt it just stopped all of a sudden.

Aside from these little problems, I think its a good book.

Waiting on Wednesday---Scorched by Mari Mancusi

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Ok this is only my second Waiting on Wednesday

Here it is...Scorched by Mari Mancusi

Synospis from Goodreads:

Trinity Don’t leave me here... It starts with a whisper. At first Trinity thinks she’s going crazy. It wouldn’t be a big surprise—her grandpa firmly believes there’s a genuine dragon egg in their dusty little West Texas town. But this voice is real, and it’s begging for her protection. Even if no one else can hear it...

Connor He’s come from a future scorched by dragonfire. His mission: Find the girl. Destroy the egg. Save the world.

Caleb He’s everything his twin brother Connor hates: cocky, undisciplined, and obsessed with saving dragons.

Trinity has no idea which brother to believe. All she has to go by is the voice in her head—a dragon that won’t be tamed.

I got to say, I love this cover, the dragon and the girl great job. But the story sounds very interesting, and I can't wait to read it. I actually have tried finding an arc copy, but I am going to wait because it will be out in less then a week.

Review: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thought City of Bones was a good story, however my only argument is that it took me so very long to finish it. It just didn't keep my attention enough to finish it quickly, but I wanted to read it before thinking about going to see the movie.

Now I am kinda wondering if I want to see the movie, just by watching the previews I get the feeling that its totally different.

I liked the characters, Clary and Jace...(I am just not going there right now, that stab in the heart is just to fresh, even though I get the feeling deep down that it isn't true) And poor Simon, even though, I just don't see Simon and Clary together, I really want to continue on with the rest of the books, just to see what happens.

Its a good read, I would probably recommend it to others.

Ink (Paper Gods, #1)Ink by Amanda Sun
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I almost read this in one sitting, but I fell asleep almost at the end.

I really liked the concept and the lore the author added into this book. It was unique as well as a bit strange. And I loved the characters, Katie especially, she was a strong-minded female despite the fact all that she was going through.

Yuu...well he was a bit hard to like at first, but he grows on you. (And on a side note, I do have a thing for Asians...haha)

I am very curious about where this story is heading, it gets really complicated and unexpected toward the end of the first book, and the one guy who I thought was going to be good, turned bad in his own way. I hate to say it though, I still like him, and wonder if he going to cause more trouble later on. And if Katie doesn't want him, can I have him.

Better yet, just buy me a ticket to Japan, I will find him myself.

I received as a Netgalley copy, formatting was horrible, but I kinda expected that.

Sky's End

Sharing a new book and review today that I received at Netgalley

And here is my review: Sky's EndSky's End by Lesley Young
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Hmm, I did like this book, lots of good things going for it.

Cassiel is a likeable heroine, maybe a little to whiny and perhaps way to stubborn. I had a hard time with her some of her choices, but that is beside the point.

I liked Prime Ori'ic, but of course I am a sucker for sexy alpha males, but I liked that he was about to try to make it work between him and Cassie before Cassiel decided to be stupid again.

Why I thought it was a good book, the beginning was somewhat slow, and her briefings before mission were slightly jumbled and went to fast.

The story kinda reminded me of Evangeline Anderson's Brides of the Kindred series (of which I have read 3 of her 8 books), except dialed way down on the sex. The series is meant for adults though, so take that in consideration before making your own comparison.

Cover Love

We all do this as reader's. We fall in love with the covers we see, and forget the age-old adage of never judging a book by its cover.

I think with me this has become a new obsession, but I am not quite positive. Here is the cover I love:

Description on Amazon- How do you live with the gut clenching truth that the one you love will die if you meet them? Twenty year old sorcerer Scott Tabors is learning how. After seeing seventeen year old Olivia Whitehead outside of a coffee shop, his heart will never be the same. He longs for her, he wants her, and he knows she will be his. They are heart mates. …but due to a curse on his family, he can’t meet her. Not yet. So for now, he visits her in her dreams. Her dreams where he can tell her everything but his name. Olivia Whitehead is a typical junior in high school. She and her best friend are having the time of their lives, but she can’t help but notice the changes happening to her. Especially the changes in her heart after she begins dreaming about a mysterious dark haired young man. But what will happen when the school heartthrob decides he wants Olivia? Will she realize the dream man is real or will she move on?

Why I love the cover, maybe its the yellow rose contrasting with the pale skin. I don't know, but hopefully the story is just as intriguing as the cover.
